Gerry joined Bord Na Mona in March 2017 as Chief Operating Officer. In this role he and his team are responsible for delivering the Operational results of the company to the benefit of all stakeholders.
Prior to Bord Na Mona Gerry worked in senior executive roles across the Medical device, Telecoms and PC Industries with companies such as DJO Global, Stryker, Apple, Nortel and AST/Samsung. Gerry initially qualified as a Toolmaker with Mincon and studied Industrial Engineering. He also holds a Masters Degree in change management through Trinity College Dublin.
As Company Secretary Anna-Marie is responsible to the Board for ensuring compliance with all Board procedures. In addition, she is the key liaison with Bord na Móna’s shareholding Department, the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment. Anna-Marie is also responsible for the Legal and Internal Audit functions within Bord na Móna.
Anna-Marie joined Bord na Móna in 2007 as Head of Legal and was appointed to the role of Company Secretary and General Counsel on 1 April 2017. Prior to joining Bord na Móna Anna-Marie trained and practiced as a corporate solicitor with Arthur Cox in Dublin. Anna-Marie holds a B.A and LL.B. from National University of Ireland, Galway and a Masters of Law (LL.M.) from the University of Edinburgh.
Joe is responsible for Bord na Mona’s Business Transformation agenda. His focus is on transformational and strategic program development and execution, combined with leading Bord na Mona’s journey to best-in-class performance. He has extensive experience in Medical, Electrical FMCG, Electronic and Electrical Connectivity industries. Joe has worked in site, regional and global leadership roles in R&D, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Supply Chain Management. He has been responsible for the implementation of major transformational programmes and most recently worked at TE Connectivity as Senior Director EMEA Operations.
Michael leads a team spanning Group Finance, Information Technology, Procurement, Engineering, Group Marketing and Communications. This team is responsible for financial reporting and controls throughout the Group, including the preparation of Consolidated Financial Statements to the Board of Directors and other key stakeholders. In addition, his team are responsible for providing the various sources of external finance that are necessary to fund Company growth. A key project currently underway is the implementation of a Financial Shared Services Centre.
Michael Barry joined Bord na Móna in 2005. Previously he was Chief Financial Officer of Medisys plc, a London Stock Exchange listed medical devices company and prior to that was Group Vice-President Finance of Elan Corporation plc.
Gerry O’Hagan joined Bord na Móna in 2005. He previously worked with Procter and Gamble, Campbell Soup Company and Dairygold and operated his own consultancy. He also served 4 years as the Marketing Director of Riverdance. He is a member of the Institute of Marketing and holds a B.A (Hons) in Business Studies.
John and his team are responsible for delivering the next generation of energy infrastructure projects to Bord na Móna’s expanding portfolio. This involves the screening of potential investments and substantial work in the area of planning and consenting. The business case, for what typically turn out to be multi-million euro investments, must be brought before the Board and Shareholders. Upon approval, John and his team must manage the delivery of the project from construction and commissioning right through to operation.
John joined in 2006 when Bord na Móna acquired Edenderry Power Plant from the German utility company EON. He was a member of the Senior Management team with specific responsibility for Environmental, Health & Safety and Business Development. John previously worked for Fortum, the Finnish Utility involved in the construction & commissioning of Edenderry Power. John holds a PhD in Chemistry and a B.Sc. (Hons) degree from UCD.
As Head of Peat, one of Paul’s responsibilities is to fulfil Bord na Móna’s mandate to fully utilise the Company’s peat resources for the benefit of the country and the communities in which we operate. His department are responsible for the production and supply of peat products for the generation of electricity, the production of peat briquettes, and for use as award winning growing media.
Paul must ensure that peat production and transport operations are carried out in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. Cutaway bogs that remain after peat extraction are fully decommissioned and rehabilitated for the production of renewable energy and other uses that bring value to the community like amenity development and the nurturing of biodiversity. In Paul’s own words ‘My focus is to have a sustainable business and employment to 2030 and beyond.
Patrick joined Bord na Mona in July of 2015. In a recent previous role he was Operations Director for Balcas Timber Ltd, running their highly complex sawmilling operations.
“I studied Mechanical Engineering at UCD. Upon graduation I worked in the UK followed by many years abroad in Italy, France, Canada, Mexico and the USA working as general manager for high volume manufacturing firms.”
Eddie joined Bord na Mona in June 2015 and, as Head of Fuels, he leads Ireland’s largest solid fuel business. Eddie has held senior roles with some of the world’s leading consumer goods and business service companies such as Mars, British American Tobacco, Premier Foods, Aramark and most recently ESMA (European Sales & Marketing Association). Eddie holds a B. Sc. in Computer Science and Maths from UCD and a 1st Class Honours MBA from UCD Smurfit Graduate School of Business.
Tom joined Bord na Móna in 2006 when the company acquired the Edenderry Power Plant from the major German utility player EON. He was Plant Manager at Edenderry Power having formerly held the role of Maintenance Manager. Tom started his career with General Electric and completed various international management assignments in power plant construction, commissioning and maintenance. Tom holds a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Engineering from Trinity College and a Post Graduate Qualification in Business Management from DCU Executive Business School.
Ciaran leads a team responsible for the development of our waste collection and end treatment business by building a sustainable growth strategy. His focus is on delivering exceptional customer service and maximising the reuse potential of managed waste materials.
Ciaran joined Bord na Móna in 2016. He previously held senior Management positions in the Waste Sector nationally and internationally and prior to that he worked with Glanbia plc. Ciaran is a graduate of DCU with a BBs in Finance and holds a Diploma in Industrial Relations.
Ger joined Bord na Móna in September 1990 as a Finance Manager in the Fuels Business. He was Financial Controller of the Fuels and Environmental businesses up until May 2003 when he took up the role of Group Financial Controller. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. Prior to joining Bord na Móna, he worked with O’Neill Foley & Co Chartered Accountants.
Dr. Henry’s role as the director of innovation has the primary objective of embedding a co-ordinated Research and Development and business innovations approach within the company. This important work is carried out by Dr. Henry and his team of experienced project managers and researchers. Their work enables Bord na Móna to develop cutting edge technologies thus extending the Company’s life well into the future.
Dr Henry holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Environmental Science and Technology from the Institute of Technology Sligo and a Ph.D for research on “The movement and attenuation of domestic wastewater in soils and its subsequent pollution of groundwater sources”. He also holds a Diploma in Business Finance from the Irish Management Institute (IMI).
