For much of its existence, Bord na Móna’s main priorities were to use our peat resources to supply indigenous energy to the Irish economy and support the communities across Ireland that depended on our business activity. In the current phase of the Company’s development, we are managing a transition away from a business dependent on peat, to one that will look and operate very differently.
I have become Managing Director at a particularly important time for Bord na Móna. I am acutely conscious of the need to make a number of critical decisions in continuing our journey towards long term sustainability. As we make this transition, I will also do everything to ensure that Bord na Móna remains a major employer, supporting our communities especially in the Midlands of Ireland.
