As a company, and as employees, we are connected to the economic, social and cultural life of Ireland’s towns and villages. Many of our projects also benefit the communities that surround the project site. One example is the Mountlucas Community Gain Scheme.
This scheme arose from the development of a waste management facility by Bord na Móna in 2008. Since the inception of the scheme, 307 grants totalling €2.1 million have been awarded to projects in these communities.
I know many of you working in Bord na Móna businesses will testify to the fact that we have a rare and special relationship with the community. Whether it’s in the construction of windfarms, peat harvesting operations, resource management, or buying our fuel and horticulture products, local communities overwhelmingly support us and wish us well.
Bord na Móna’s support has seen a significant improvement in the road infrastructure through the Co. Offaly town. “Our flagship projects are the Community Centre, the Town Hall, and part of the GAA facilities,” said community activist Deloreen Brereton
