Many go above and beyond in their work, others are great leaders and innovators, and there are those socially responsible staff that try to make a difference to the world around them, both in and out of work. There are many such stories to tell, but here we will focus on just a few.
We went on a search for #SustainabilityHeroes around Ireland to celebrate the people making an effort to live more sustainably. We asked people and communities to share why they are naturally driven to live more sustainably and invited some of our sustainability heroes to join our Naturally Driven Café with TodayFM’s Dermot & Dave on Tuesday October 3rd.
The Irish charity was set up to help support Ugandan children that are infected by, or affected by HIV. Nurture Africa provide access to free quality healthcare, education and provide support and guidance in the building of sustainable livelihoods. During his time in Uganda, Michael was involved in a number of activities; library outreach, construction, basic first aid training, business visits and home visits.
When Daniel’s daughter Gemma was born she had a condition called C-Cam. Against the odds, the care given to Gemma at Temple Street Children’s Hospital means she can now live life without a care in the world. To show appreciation, and to help raise much needed funds for improvements, Daniel has made a commitment to continue raising funds for this great cause.
The majority of people taking part in the event were doing it for charity. A “Runamuck” event means running, sitting, sliding, jumping down river banks, over bails and into pools of mud.
