Peat
Bord na Móna Feedstock harvests and supplies over 3 million tonnes of milled peat each year. Our customers use peat
- as fuel to generate electricity
- to produce growing media for flowers, ornamental plants and vegetables
- as the raw material in the manufacture of Bord na Móna peat briquettes
- as a source of biofibrous media used in Bord na Móna’s natural effluent treatment systems

Biomass
Peat is a finite resource and we have committed not to develop and new peat production bogs. Bord na Móna Feedstock is now focused on reducing our dependency on peat and developing a more sustainable future, based on supplying renewable biomass to our customers.
Since 2008 we have been supplying biomass to Edenderry Power Station, which has already achieved 10% dilution of peat with biomass, and is on course to deliver on the Government target of 30% dilution with biomass by 2015.

Become a Biomass Supplier
We hope to create a sustainable biomass supply in partnership with the farming community. We are offering long term contracts to farmers for the supply of willow as an energy crop for power generation.
