Bord na Móna’s Horticulture business has a range of brands available in Ireland, the UK and Europe. Our business is continually evolving and expanding its portfolio of horticultural products and services. In exports, the company’s strength is in the provision of technically strong growing media solutions for the European, Middle and Far Eastern professional markets.
Bord na Móna’s growing media business can be divided into two broad categories; professional and bulk growing media, and packaged retail products.
In 2010, Bord na Móna launched the Growise brand for the retail market in the UK and Ireland. The Growise brand offers a range of peat diluted media products containing a minimum of 25% green compost. This compost is derived from grass cuttings, hedge clippings and other green organics. It’s uniquely manufactured at our Kilberry composting facility in Co. Kildare.
Bord na Móna provides professional growers and potting soil manufacturers with a range of professional growing media in Ireland, the UK and Europe. This range of products uses high quality Irish peat which delivers the best possible root growth and plant development.
Recognised for Quality
Bord na Móna’s range of growing media is tailored to meet customer needs and their individual crop requirements. The business has built its reputation on excellent products, on-going technical support, and continuous research and development.
Our products have a strong market position due, in part, to the introduction of new differentiated peat types. This position was further strengthened when we achieved the industry recognised, independently certified, RHP quality mark.
‘RHP Horticulture’ is a quality mark for substrates which offers a guarantee to the grower. The ‘RHP Horticulture’ mark guarantees the quality of a product from extraction to processing and all the way to the buyer.
Our continued commitment to quality and sustainability in the growing media sector was highlighted when the largest independent consumer body, ‘Which?’ awarded their top accolade ‘Which? Best Buy’ to three of our products.
Through smart production techniques, customer feedback, and constant innovation our Horticulture business will continue to grow. Sustainability and the environment are at the core of our DNA. Our horticulture business is combining our traditional peat products with a range of quality biomass products.
