Our IT Function currently wish to recruit an IT Applications Manager on a permanent basis. This role will be based in Newbridge and will report to the Head of IT. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the strategic direction of the application portfolio, own the implementation and manage the support of all systems in line with business SLA’s. As a member of the IT management team this role leads an internal capability to manage third-party providers and internal resources to ensure Bord na Móna’s applications are fit for purpose, in line with business requirements.

The Role:

The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:

  • Develop and maintain an application strategy including governance for existing applications. Evolve the strategy to include new business requirements and application upgrades in conjunction with IT Strategy, leaning on the Bord na Móna’s Cloud Strategy;
  • Owning the 3rd party application managed services relationship. Design and Implementation of best practice application controls including access, patching and ensuring IT security is inherent in the design;
  • Projects – Taking ownership, working in conjunction with the BRM’s and PM’s for requirements gathering to deliver business projects identified. Responsible for function including test strategy, approach and UAT sign off;
  • Roadmap – Prepare an annual roadmap for application upgrades in conjunction with the annual budgeting process. Manage the Web development and Sharepoint roadmap in line with business requirements. Reduce the application portfolio stack through consolidation of existing applications;
  • Risk – Responsible for anticipating of IT audit issues and implementing remediation of audit action points within the agreed time. Prepare an annual Application risk assessment for production and legacy applications including license compliance. Responsible for Application disaster recovery plans and testing;
  • Team – To develop a high performing application support function through a combination of 3rd party and internal teams. Experience working with managed service partners creating virtual teams;
  • Budget – Ownership for the preparation and delivery of the IT applications capital and operation budget;
  • Lead and Performance Manage your direct report(s). Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team’s objectives;

The Person:

  • The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes;
  • Minimum 5+ years relevant experience ideally in utilities;
  • Experience in Multiple ERP’s and Cloud Platforms / Technologies.
