na Móna currently has a need for a Tax Accountant on a permanent basis.  This role will be based in Newbridge and will
report to the Tax Manager.  It is a specialist
corporate tax accounting role required to assist in the preparation of various
tax reporting and tax compliance obligations for the Bord na Móna Group.
Responsible for completion of returns in respect of transactional taxes under
all tax heads as well as supporting the Tax Manager in the tax compliance tasks
particularly re year end corporation tax returns.

The main duties and responsibilities of
the role will include the following:

  • Support and assist the Tax Manager in
    completing and submitting the corporation tax computations and returns in line with
    internal and statutory deadlines; completion of Forms 46G in line with internal
    and statutory deadlines.

  • Preparation of tax provision and related notes
    and audit support for annual statutory filings for all entities including the
    posting of related tax journals and preparation of tax accounting disclosures
    in financial statements.                                                                          

  • Responsible for timely and accurate preparation
    of VAT computations for all entities and ensuring company accounts reflect an
    accurate VAT charge. Manage the VAT compliance cycle for all Group entities
    including liaising with Business Units and external tax advisors where
    relevant. Ensuring VAT payments and tax returns are filed with the relevant tax
    authorities by the appropriate deadlines;                                                                              

  • Ensure accurate and timely completion and
    filing of all other tax returns (PSWT, Carbon Tax, RCT, Mineral Oils Tax)
    including responsibility for preparation of such returns in an efficient manner
    maximising the use of BI reporting tools. This includes preparation of all
    related returns including Intrastats, Vies and CSO reports on statistical

  • Support the Tax Manager in the provision of
    accurate tax advice to internal partners (e.g. Finance teams) and internal customers
    (e.g. Legal, HR, Treasury etc) in an efficient and timely manner.  Support the Tax Manager to document and
    implement tax processes and procedures throughout the Group. Support the Tax
    Manager in the undertaking of reviews of revenue streams and other matters
    (e.g. application of BIK to company cars) to ensure tax compliance throughout
    the Group to meet the requirements of Revenue under the Cooperative Compliance

  • Develop strong working relationships with internal
    stakeholders throughout the Group as well as external stakeholders such as Tax
    Authorities and Advisors.

  • Proactively participate in the Performance
    Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team’s, objectives.                                                                          


The ideal candidate will possess the
following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes;

  • Tax Qualified and Qualified Accountant with post qualification
    experience. FETAC Level 8 Hons Degree in Accountancy, Business or related

  • Minimum of 2-5 years PQE                                                                                           

  • Knowledge of integrated ERP system (preferably Oracle), Microsoft Office,
    Excel. Experience in AlphaTax is desirable.

  • Self-starter with ability to work successfully on own and as a team

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
