Land and Property Commercial Lead

Our Land & Habitats Business currently has a need for Land and Property Commercial Lead on a permanent basis. This role will be based in the Boora / Newbridge office and will report to the Land Use Manager.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for maximising the commercial value generated from Bord na Móna’s Land and Property assets and the delivery of key strategic commercial projects for the land and habitat business.

The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:

  • Management of the Industrial property disposal strategy to ensure delivery of commercial return on projects and target additional revenue streams for the business. Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential opportunities for business growth and expansion. Evaluate competitors’ strategies and market positioning to inform strategic decision-making. Be responsible for the marketing of such disposals and lettings.
  • Management and optimisation of the land and property tenant portfolio, which includes but is not limited to industrial buildings, aggregate extraction, renewable developments, Eco Energy parks and other land use opportunities. Optimisation will include the zoning of lands for potential future use, which includes but not limited to renewable infrastructure, strategic land banks, rehabilitation, rewilding.
  • Development and implementation of a strategy for the disposal of non-strategic assets and the letting of suitable strategic assets in the short to long term pending future strategic development. Be responsible for the marketing of such disposals and lettings.
  • Creation of a strategic roadmap for the commercial development of strategic BnM industrial lands, aligning to the strategic development of BnMs renewable developments.
  • Management and Development of opportunities with 3rd parties for strategic land use across the estate, including but not limited to natural resource utilisation, commercial wayleaves, renewable development leases and easements.
  • Support the integrated land use mapping system for land allocation within the BnM estate. This system should incorporate feedback and guidance from a number of stakeholders across the Land and Habitats and the wider BnM Group, namely the BnM Renewables team.
  • Support the wider Land and Habitats team and the Renewables team with respect to land use development across the estate, including but not limited to provision of land and property valuations, development of business cases for further investment in projects with sufficient commercial potential and the development of links with potential partners, innovation support agencies, internal and external stakeholders to leverage funding and other competencies.
  • Proactively participate in the preparation of annual and project budgets and resource plans. Manage relevant projects and services time and cost recording system and monitor against budgets and plans and take remedial actions to ensure targets are achieved. Prepare and review reports, including project progress, cost, weekly updates, time management and KPI’s;
  • Procurement Management for the estate process including any external contractors that are required for works such as but not limited to Hedge cutting, Fire Management, Dumping, Fencing, Deer Management and Pump Management.
  • Be exemplar in demonstrating Leadership Standards and Behaviours for Success. Actively promote a culture of high performance, empowerment and accountability with focus on cost, delivery, safety and continuous improvement, embedding systematic management and governance processes.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes:

  • Level 8+ qualification in a property, business, engineering, finance or
    other relevant discipline.
  • 10 years’ post graduate experience with at least 5 years in a similar role.
  • Experience in property management, property planning, financial analysis, strategy
    development, project management, change management, a working knowledge of GIS
    and planning tools, familiarity with planning framework and people management.
  • Excellent Technical Report, negotiation and influencing skills with the
    ability to create and articulate proposals, and communications skills essential
  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project & PowerPoint.
